comScore: Internet traffic increases for travel and tickets
Traffic increased in July for US travel and ticket websites, according to comScore's monthly analysis. The travel ground and cruise sector rose ten per cent to 12.7 million visitors, according to the web analytics company. In addition, travel information grew seven per cent to reach 47.6 million visitors. Further customer analytics showed that hotels and resorts saw a six per cent jump to more than 34 million visitors, with Hotels.com, Choice Hotels International and HolidayInn.com enjoying the biggest boosts. Furthermore, summer movies such as the new Batman film The Dark Knight caused ticket sites to increase traffic by five per cent to more than 44 million visitors. Leader of the section was Moviefone, with a 12 per cent jump equating to 17.5 million viewers. Research by comScore earlier this month found that the Facebook audience in Japan more than tripled over the past year. It found competition for social networks in the country was becoming fiercer, with the most visited Japanese social media site being Mixi.jp.
