Google Analytics Marketshare Grows

87% of companies use Google Analytics According to Survey.

According to the Online measurement & Strategy Survey 2010 the vast majority of companies surveyed (87%) are using Google Analytics (GA), including 38% who are now using this tool exclusively.

Around half (49%) are using it in conjunction with another tool. The proportion of companies using Google Analytics exclusively (38%) is significantly up from 23% last year and 14% in 2008 [Figure 35].

Fewer companies say they are using this in tandem with another tool (-8%), and the proportion of companies saying they do not use GA has decreased from 20% last year (and 34% in 2008) to 13%.

Google is cutting away at the market share of paid vendors, and this trend has accelerated due to increased awareness about its analytics tool and improving functionality (for example, advanced
segments).

The response of the web analytics vendors has been to become broader solution providers, for example offering multivariate and paid search bid management technology.
