Happy Birthday Firefox

The popular Internet browser Firefox celebrated its 5th birthday last month. Firefox, launched on November 9 2004, holds just under a quarter of the bowser market share with Internet Explorer out in front with 64% of market share. Internet Explorer dominated the market with 91% usage share before the launch of Firefox and recent competition rules mean that users can choose which browser to install with Windows 7.

The birthday is yet another landmark for Mozilla, the company behind Firefox, as they recently surpassed 1 billion downloads of the browser. The Firefox community, which develops add-ons to increase the functionality of the browser, are celebrating the landmark with a new website.
