Joint metrics deadline passes
The deadline for research proposals for a shared internet metrics system has passed, bringing closer its possible launch date. The Joint Industry Committee for Internet Measurement Systems (JICIMS) had invited a number of companies to propose their soloution to monitoring online activity and New Media Age has reported responses were numerous. Prior to the cut-off date, Peter Bowman, general manager said: "Judging by the warm reception JICIMS has been getting we are looking at receiving a number of proposals in the next few days". The group hopes to produce audience profiles for a significant number of online media and provide the means to estimate net audiences across a number of sites. JICISM has said it hopes to work alongside analysts, such as Nielsen Online, comScore and TGI.net with "a degree of mutual dovetailing of the various findings as we move forward". The shortlist of companies expected to be asked to bid on the new internet statistics proposal should be ready by summer, although Mr Bowman added they were not expecting to announce the final choice till much later in the year, NMA said.
