LinkedIn Reaches 50 Million Users

LinkedIn, the social networking site for business professionals, has reached 50 million users worldwide according to Jeff Weiner, LinkedIn CEO. Weiner also states that the site is growing at roughly one new member a second. LinkedIn's members are based all over the globe with around half based in the US and 11 million based in Europe.

LinkedIn has reportedly been profitable for the last 2 years and was valued at around $1 billion during its latest round of financing in June 2008.

Last month, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman stated that the company does not have any plans to go public.
