Twitter Agree Deals With Google and Microsoft
Google and Microsoft have announced that they have reached separate agreements with Twitter to include tweets in their search results. The agreements will see a real-time index of the tweets from Twitter matched to users search queries.
The integrations are moving at different speeds as Microsoft has already integrated Twitter results into their Bing search engine while Google have announced that any integration for them is months away. Bing are giving the option to rank tweets either by most recent or by best match, where they consider the number of followers a user has plus the uniqueness of the tweet when determining tweet ranking within results.
Industry commentators are seeing the early adoption of Twitter search as a victory for Microsoft in the search engine space but it remains to be seen if this can help wrestle some search share from dominant Google.
